Last entry is usually 30 minutes before closing time. However, to see everything, you shouldn't arrive later than 90 minutes before closure.
The best light for seeing the Dome's interior is around midday when the sun strikes the gold leaf and illuminates the altar. For crowds, avoid the 2 PM - 4 PM peak.
Highly recommended. The Invalides is a top-5 Paris attraction, and queue lines for tickets on site can be long, especially on weekends.
The museum usually does not participate in the 'Free First Sunday' scheme during high season months, but policies can change. The site is free for all visitors on July 14th (Bastille Day).
